COVID-19 Cleaning Regime

We have received guidance from the Association of Scotland’s Self-Caterers, a comprehensive 27 page document packed full of cleaning guidance for accommodation properties.

Some examples of the new stringent cleaning regime for holiday accommodation is that we have bought duplicate duvets, pillows, more mattress protectors, pillow protectors. The virus can live up to 72 hours depending on the surface it has been in contact with, thus we will be putting these items into quarantine until our next guests.

Most of our lovely decoration cushions and throws will be removed from the properties. As I perform all the cleaning myself it would have been impossible for me to get these all washed and cleaned too. As will all Books, DVDs etc. be removed from the houses.

Steam cleaning – heat kills the virus, breaking down it’s outer protein layer. Therefore I will be steam cleaning the soft furnishings of sofas and dining room chairs, curtains.

And of course I will be disinfecting all high touch surfaces.

Guests will be required to assist a little more on leaving the property. e.g. stripping and bagging the bedding, ensure that I am not at risk of any droplets if I were to strip the beds. Bagging and taking rubbish to the bins etc.

This is just a list of examples of some of the stringent extra measures we will be taking to ensure your and my safety.

A full COVID risk assessment has been completed to ensure safety for all of us!
